Filming Documentry - Picture Perfect: An Image Culture

Updated: Apr 25, 2023

I've been working on a documentary film for my final year studies to identify the links between body dysmorphic disorder and the increased use of social media can do in relating to harm of mental health related to the disorder.

I managed to capture the 2nd Interview with Rachel Jones, the primary client study for my documentary feature, she is an actress who has suffered from related symptoms of body dysmorphic disorder, a mental health disorder that effects 1 in every 50 people across the UK each year.

When making these types of films I operate as both the director and the videographer and edit all of the content. I really enjoy the personal connection you have with these types of films from start to finish, and I can't complain about the shooting environments which were really eye opening to understand the sort of process individuals go through when dealing with disorder.
